The first day of a second round table meeting at the invitation of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Moroccan Sahara, Horst Köhler, ended Thursday evening.
Held at Château Le Rosey in Bursins near Geneva, with the participation of a Moroccan delegation, alongside Algeria, the "polisario" and Mauritania, this second round table meeting will continue on Friday.
The Moroccan delegation led by Nasser Bourita, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in New York, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, president of the Laäyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Yenja El Khattat, president of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and Fatima El Adli, community actor and member of Smara's municipal council.
A press release issued by the United Nations Office in Geneva said that Kohler "hopes that this meeting will strengthen the positive momentum that characterized the first round table discussions held last December in Geneva".
The same source recalled that this round table meeting "will allow delegations to discuss the elements necessary for a solution, in accordance with Security Council resolution 2440, regional issues and confidence-building measures".
