United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, hopes that "all Member States" support the UN's efforts aimed at reaching a final solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
"We hope that all Member States support the UN's effort," Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, said Tuesday in his daily press briefing.
"Mr Köhler's (UNSG personal envoy for the Sahara) efforts are being mandated by the Security Council," he added, recalling that Köhler just finished a latest round of discussions with the parties last week in Geneva.
Dujarric was answering a question on the final declaration issued at the end of the Ministerial Conference on the support of the African Union to the United Nations political process on the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, held in Marrakech.
The African countries which took part in this conference have agreed to implement the "wise and concerted vision" of the heads of State and government, enshrined at the 31st AU Summit held in July 2018 in Nouakchott, which reaffirms the exclusivity of the UN in seeking a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
