The State of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed, at the meeting of the Committee of 24 of the United Nations, held in New York, its "constant" position in favor of the territorial integrity of Morocco.

The UAE representative at the meeting of this subsidiary body of the General Assembly reiterated her country's support for the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco with a view to a consensual solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

She also praised Morocco's efforts to reach a definitive solution, "efforts that the Security Council has described, in all its resolutions since 2007, as serious and credible in moving forward towards a settlement".

The Emirati diplomat also expressed her country's support for the political process under the exclusive aegis of the United Nations Secretary-General and the facilitation of his Personal Envoy to achieve a consensual and mutually accepted political solution to the Sahara issue.

The representative of the UAE noted that her country commends Morocco's significant efforts and continued involvement in achieving a just and lasting political solution to the Sahara issue, while welcoming the participation of all parties concerned in the two Geneva round table discussions, and their agreement to participate in a similar third meeting to reach a political solution, in accordance with the latest Security Council resolution.
