Venezuelan Permanent Representative to the United Nations Samuel Moncada

Venezuela expressed, Wednesday before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations, its support for a "negotiated political solution" to put an end to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

"Venezuela continues to support a negotiated solution for the settlement of the Sahara issue on the basis of the United Nations resolutions," the representative of Venezuela told the Committee.

"It is necessary to increase the efforts of the United Nations and its Secretary-General to accelerate the search for a fair, durable and mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue,” the Venezuelan diplomat pointed out.

"A political solution to this dispute, based on cooperation, will contribute to foster stability and security in the region and create greater opportunities for its peoples," he added.
