Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara welcomed, here Monday, Morocco’s decision to reintegrate the African Union, stressing that Morocco’s place “is within the African Union”.
“I am very pleased with the message of HM King Mohammed VI, and for having taken this decision to reintegrate the African Union”, said the head of the Ivorian state Ouattara, quoted by the African Press Agency (APA-news).
Morocco is a “great African country” that has been contributing “much to security and prosperity in the continent, but also to diplomatic relations and cooperation”, he said, recalling the excellent relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco.
“Within our grouping, this will only strengthen its role, its place and its leadership. We therefore welcome the return of Morocco with great satisfaction”, the Ivorian Head of State concluded.
In a message to the 27th AU Summit, HM king Mohammed VI announced the kingdom’s decision to reintegrate the African Union. “Our friends have long been asking us to return among them so that Morocco may take its natural place within its institutional family. That time has now come”, HM the King stressed.
“Through this historic, responsible act, Morocco seeks to work within the AU to transcend divisions”, the Sovereign pointed out.
"A l’intérieur de notre ensemble, cela ne fera que renforcer son rôle, sa place et son leadership. Nous accueillons donc le retour du Maroc avec beaucoup de satisfaction’’, a conclu le Chef de l’Etat ivoirien.
