This has been repeated over and over again. Algeria is the main, if not the sole instigator of the Western Sahara conflict and the Polisario would not have existed and would not survive without the support of the Algerian regime.
A recent TV show has just re-confirmed this reality through testimonies of two persons involved in the Algerian plot.
During the live TV show “Moubacharatane Maakoum” aired by the Moroccan TV 2M earlier this week, two Polisario activists made damning testimonies on how Algeria attempts to ignite trouble in Western Sahara. These two activists are part of what is called “the separatists from within,” i.e Sahrawis who live in the Moroccan cities of Western Sahara, but uphold the separatist thesis of the Polisario Front and its mentor, Algeria.
The two show guests just came back from Algeria where they had attended, along some fifty other activists, a summer university organized in the Algerian city of Boumerdes specifically for executives of the Polisario. The two activists disclosed how agents of the Algerian military intelligence services (DRS) train pro-Polisario Sahrawis to weapons handling.
The DRS Officers also trained the attendees to ways and means of igniting unrest in urban areas of Western Sahara, mainly in Laayoune, Smara and Dakhla.
The testimonies were all the more shocking as the Sahrawis who attended the summer university actually tried to challenge Moroccan security and customs agents as soon as they landed in Casablanca coming from Algeria last August 22. Upon arrival in the airport, these activists gathered in the lobby and refused to comply with customs formalities in an attempt to create disorder and provoke a confrontation with the security agents. However, the latter did not fall in the trap.
Yet, the Customs services have managed to discover in the activists’ luggage impressive propaganda materials. Dozens of Algerian flags, flags of the Polisario-proclaimed Sahrawi republic, anti-Moroccan propaganda leaflets, in addition to large amounts of money in dollars. This incriminatory evidence leaves no doubt as to the Algerian generals’ resolve to do everything to torpedo the Moroccan autonomy plan and sow disorder in Western Sahara.
