The US State Department has denounced “‎the destabilizing nature of Iran's activities, including Iran's support for Hezbollah and other terrorist groups.”

"The United States has consistently raised concerns about ‎the destabilizing nature of Iran's activities, including Iran's support for Hezbollah and other terrorist groups," the US State Department told MAP following Morocco’s decision to sever ties with Iran due to the military support provided by its ally the Hezbollah to the Polisario.

Iran "remains a designated State Sponsor of Terror and Hezbollah remains a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization," it added.

"The United States seeks our partners’ support to neutralize Iran’s destabilizing influence, constrain its aggression -- particularly its support for terrorism and militants -- and restore a more stable balance of power," the source pointed out.

Morocco has decided to sever relations with Iran due to the military support provided by its ally the Hezbollah movement to the Polisario, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, said.
