Paris – France reiterated on Monday support to efforts of the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, and affirmed that it holds regular contacts with him.
“We support efforts by Christopher Ross and we are maintaining dialog on a regular basis with him and with the major concerned partners”, said spokesman of the French foreign department in a press briefing.
Ross toured the region last week, in keeping with the UN Security council’s resolutions. He was received in Rabat by minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar.
The French foreign ministry had said recently that France’s position on the Sahara issue is clear and constant, stressing that Paris considers the Moroccan autonomy plan as a serious and credible basis for a negotiated settlement.
