Ivorian President Reiterates ‘full Support’ for Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal

President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara reiterated the “full support” of his country for Morocco’s proposal to grant autonomy to its southern provinces in the so-called Western Sahara, under the kingdom’s sovereignty.

President Ouattara “reiterates the full support of Côte d’Ivoire for Morocco’s proposal to grant substantial autonomy to the Sahara region within the framework of the sovereignty, unity and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom,” said a joint statement issued following the official visit of the Ivorian Head of State to Morocco.

President Ouattara also commended the efforts led by Morocco to find a lasting solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
