Nacer Bourita

Morocco and Algeria have agreed to adopt a pragmatic, gradual and ambitious approach to give a new dynamism to their bilateral relations, said secretary general of the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation, Nasser Bourita, who paid a two-day visit to Algeria.

He said that he met with Algerian foreign minister Mourad Medelci and minister-delegate of African and Maghreban affairs, Abdelkader Messahel and co-chaired with Algerian peer a working session in the presence of delegations of the two countries.

The Moroccan official visit is part of preparations of the 2nd session of the political consultation mechanism set up last year by the two countries’ foreign ministers.

It was also an opportunity to highlight the clear will of HM King Mohammed VI to consolidate relations between the two countries and build a model based on mutual respect, neighbourliness, and strongest possible cooperation in all fields.

The two delegations expressed satisfaction at the level, rhythm and results of visits exchanged in the last two years, in addition to identifying new sectors of potential cooperation.

Updating the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation and promotion of trade through the involvement of all economic operators were also items on the agenda of this session.
