Niger's President Reiterates Support to Morocco's Position for Peaceful Settlement

The president of House of representatives (Lower house), Rachid Talbi Alami, who was received by President Issoufou, told MAP that talks focused on the Sahara issue, security in the region and cooperation between Morocco and Niger. 

 

The President of Niger reaffirmed his support to the Moroccan proposal aiming at reaching a peaceful settlement of the issue and stressed that the United Nations should remain neutral on this issue, Talbi Alami said. 

 

Rachid Talbi Alami on Saturday represented HM King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of President Mahamadou Issoufou. 

 

Mr. Issoufou also said that the UN Chief's latest statements on the Sahara issue are a violation of the UN Charter, Lower House speaker said. 

 

Niger's president also expressed his support to the positions of HM King Mohammed VI and praised the sovereign's achievements. 

 

M. Issoufou also hailed HM the King's commitment for South-South cooperation. 

 

This audience was an opportunity to convey to President Issoufou HM the King's congratulations on the occasion of his re-election for a second term.

 

Mahamadou Issoufou won a second term with 92.5 per cent of the vote
