UAE reaffirms firm support to Morocco in Sahara issue

Fes - Foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Abdellah Ibn Zayed Al Nahyane, re-affirmed here on Tuesday his country's firm support to Morocco in the Sahara issue.

"Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, the Emirates party reiterated its constant support to the integrity of Moroccan territory", reads a joint communiqué published on Tuesday following a meeting between the UAE foreign minister and Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar.

The Arab Gulf country also reiterated "backing to the credible, realistic and serious autonomy initiative, presented by Morocco as a basis for negotiations in order to reach a final solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara".
